I chose this song as my title track because I feel it’s the best articulation of my heart. To deny myself and take up my cross is something the Lord has given me revelation on, and I’ve made it my own. I believe to walk in this way is a calling on my life and to then turn and call others to the same type of lifestyle. I have a tattoo on my arm that says “The Way of the Cross,” and to me that represents the way of love. The pinnacle of love is Jesus on the cross. So in turn I follow His example, to love Him as He loved me. “Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for another.” That is what taking up my cross and following Him means to me, I am laying my life down for the object of my love, Jesus. What is so great about this truth is that it doesn’t end with death. In Christ, every death has a resurrection. I don’t glory in the death, I glory in how near I come to Jesus as I’m dying, and His glory that is revealed to me in the resurrection.
